International storefront, international back office

Shopify Markets backed by Odoo multi-company ERP

Shopify Markets gives you international storefronts — pricing in local currency, region-specific catalogs, localized checkout, country-specific shipping. The back-office implication: each market needs its own books, its own tax records, its own stock view. Odoo's multi-company architecture handles all of that natively. SyncO maps each Shopify Market to the right Odoo company so financials stay separate where they need to.

What Shopify Markets handles, and what it doesn't

Shopify Markets is excellent at international storefronts — automatic currency conversion, region-specific catalogs, localized checkout flows, country-aware shipping rates. What it doesn't handle is the back-office implication: each market often needs its own books for tax purposes, its own stock allocation, its own payment processor reconciliation.

Mapping Markets to Odoo companies

Each Shopify Market can map to a separate Odoo company in SyncO's setup. Orders from a Market land in the right company's books. Stock for that Market's region comes from the right warehouse. Tax records are separate. This matters for VAT compliance in EU, GST in India/Australia, and US sales tax.

What this looks like at runtime

A customer in Germany buys on the EU Shopify Market. The order lands in Odoo's EU company with EUR currency, EU VAT records, and stock deducted from the EU warehouse. A US customer's order lands in the US company. Each market's books stay independent for tax filing while the unified Odoo dashboard shows consolidated reporting where you need it.

FAQ

Questions merchants ask before connecting Shopify and Odoo

Does SyncO support Shopify Markets?

Yes. Each Shopify Market can map to a separate Odoo company, with per-market warehouse and tax configuration. The order sync respects the Market's currency and tax setup.

What about VAT and EU tax compliance?

Each EU country can map to its own Odoo company (or a shared EU company with country-specific tax records). Shopify's tax lines flow into Odoo's tax records configured for each region. For VAT-specific compliance, work with your tax advisor on Odoo Accounting setup.

Can I use Shopify Markets without multi-company Odoo?

Yes — small Markets setups (one or two regions) can map to a single Odoo company with multi-currency enabled and country-specific tax records. Multi-company is right when you need genuinely separate books per region for tax filing.
